Include Inclement Weather in Your Materials Planning Forecasts

Autumn at Rapport

We’re well into autumn, and gearing up for winter. In the United States, according to the Old Farmer’s Almanac, we can expect this winter to be a rough one—with both frigid and snowy conditions on the horizon. Although Rapport’s workforce is staffed with a dedicated team of individuals who trudge to work in even some of the most difficult conditions, we are also reliant on a number of external factors and suppliers that may be impacted by inclement weather. Since we source raw material from suppliers across the country, inclement weather can impact the product manufacturing life-cycle in a variety of ways, including lengthening lead times. We work with many logistics companies (e.g., FedEx, Old Dominion) that obviously will make every effort to bring your product to your dock door as timely as possible. However, closed or impassable roads can negatively impact ground and airfreight delivery systems.

So…how can we work together to ensure the upcoming winter doesn’t cause you—our customer—unnecessary stress?
