Autumn Task: Change Smoke Alarm Batteries

Picture this:  You’re sound asleep and awakened to, “Beep……Beep……Beep……”  If you’re like me, it takes you several rounds to determine:

  1. the cause of the noise, and
  2. which particular smoke alarm 9 volt battery needs attention.

It is one of those ironies of life that smoke alarms rarely chirp during the day. Magically at night, it seems, the units get lonely and demand some attention. Finding the ladder and determining how to open the smoke alarm is a lot easier during the day, when you have all of your mental faculties readily available. To ensure a good night’s rest, I recommend you add “change smoke alarm batteries” to your Fall “to do” list.
